International Yoga day

Keeping in mind the global wellbeing, an awareness program was organized in Kristu Jayanti College as part of Yoga day on 21 June 2016. Swami Charanashrit spoke about the importance of Yoga in day to day life and the three stages involved in it, the Asana, Pranayama and Dhyana. The one and half hour session focused on Asanas , and around 300 students comprising of NSS, CSA and NCC volunteers practiced yoga with the expert. Rev. Fr. Josekutty PD, Principal, Rev Fr. Augustine George, Vice Principal, Prof. Sarvesh S, Faculty Coordinator, were also present.

It was an astonishing moment to see around three hundred students take a stage at the quadrangle of Kristu Jayanti college and take part in various ‘Asanas’ and meditations. “Yoga helps the younger generation to reduce the stress and focus on what is important in their life. It also enhances their self-awareness and act as a stress coping mechanism. This awareness program was organized to fulfil this purpose,” said Dr. Jonas Richard, Head of the Department of Social Work.

“I felt Yoga helps to promote a balanced and healthy life. A few minutes of yoga during the day can be a great way to get rid of stress,” said Rosemol, Second Year Post Graduate student in Mass Communication and Journalism.
